Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Xiaowen is one of the earliest dragons to have hatched to the Ryuu Tanima (Dragon Valley) clan after their first move. His name means "Red Sky Warm" in Chinese, and he was raised by Shigeru and Mien, their new baby didn't seem to like any of the Japanese names that they tried bestowing on him, and finally they started trying local names. Xiaowen is a very tranquil dragon, and mostly prefers to be alone. His one exception is his family, and his mate, the beautiful golden Kousa. They happened to meet one day at sunset, and the way that the red and blue sky played off of her shimmering golden scales, it was love at first sight for the both of them. They became mates shortly after meeting, and are so in love. They look forward to being together forever.
