Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Yang is the second son born to Xiaowen and Kousa. His name means "The Sun" in Chinese. He's a very reclusive dragon, who prefers to be around no more than five other dragons at a time, and not in very close proximity. Yang suffers from claustrophobia, and when crowded, panic attacks. For these reasons, Yang avoids social gatherings like the plague. He spends his time hunting, and curling up with his mate Muzai. They met when Yang went to the healing compound to get some lemon balm and lavender to calm his nerves. He had to go to a family reunion soon, and wanted to reduce his anxiety. Muzai is the one who led him through the herb garden, and helped him clip the plants. Yang found that he actually enjoyed her company, and loved her kind and gentle nature. She never judged him as being "weak" or "overly sensitive". Before he realized what he was doing, Yang invited her to his family reunion. They became mates after a long and beautiful courtship. They are so in love, and always will be.
