Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. SapphireGoldStream is a Striped dragon with, even for her kind, extremely dazzling scales. As a hatchling, she enjoyed flying around in the noon, catching insects and allowing the sun to warm her scales, though the latter had disastrous effects on the eyesight of anyone who looked up at her. Being the daughter of the Daydream dragon Fyodera DreamSong, she seems to possess a small portion of her mother's abilities. Her telepathic skills are more developed than most dragons and she can project illusions into other creatures' (including dragons) minds and even influence their actions. While she rarely bends others' minds to her will, she often makes them hallucinate frightening objects and watches them flee in terror for her own amusement. Her family is slightly wary of her and are never sure whether what they can see in front of them is real or not when she is nearby.
