Nobleshield Dragons are aptly named for their self-assumed position as defenders of the innocent. Spurred by their highly protective instincts, these dragons assign themselves to others they perceive as vulnerable to injustice and danger. There is little criteria to be considered for the object of a Nobleshield’s attentions, and it sometimes appears to be a completely random selection. However, most believe themselves lucky to have such a dragon willing to go to extreme lengths to ensure their safety. Whenever the ward of a Nobleshield is threatened, these dragons become frighteningly ruthless—the shields on their tails serve as equally devastating weapons and the plated armor over their more vulnerable body parts is near impenetrable, thus sustaining an impressive endurance through battles. Because of this, these dragons are socially well respected, and only acquiesce authority to dragons proven stronger than themselves.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mulberry is an... unfortunate dragon. His father, Jam, sought out his mother to produce a perfect heir for his territory and abandoned her as soon as their egg was laid. Jam raised Mulberry on his own, sculpting him to be his perfect heir, as well as weapon and servant. Mulberry is deeply attached to his father and defends him with his life, believing him the greatest dragon to grace the world. However, he does question his actions at times and the way he sees other dragons. He only wants to do the right thing and be a good dragon, but his father's influence over him is very strong, and he has a tainted sense of morality. Putting aside his history, Mulberry is a generally sweet, actually quiet dragon. He's a little meek for a Nobleshield Dragon. He spends a lot of time in his head, trying to think of the right things to do in all situations and interactions. He at least doesn't carry his father's stigma toward other breeds, only simulating it to the best of his ability, which is poor.
