Nobleshield Dragons are aptly named for their self-assumed position as defenders of the innocent. Spurred by their highly protective instincts, these dragons assign themselves to others they perceive as vulnerable to injustice and danger. There is little criteria to be considered for the object of a Nobleshield’s attentions, and it sometimes appears to be a completely random selection. However, most believe themselves lucky to have such a dragon willing to go to extreme lengths to ensure their safety. Whenever the ward of a Nobleshield is threatened, these dragons become frighteningly ruthless—the shields on their tails serve as equally devastating weapons and the plated armor over their more vulnerable body parts is near impenetrable, thus sustaining an impressive endurance through battles. Because of this, these dragons are socially well respected, and only acquiesce authority to dragons proven stronger than themselves.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Somehow even meeker than his already rather tepid father, Salmon has yet to find someone for which to dedicate himself to and protect. His father, fearing for the conditions they'd be raised in if they hatched in his family's territory, begged his uncle, Sodalite, to take any and all of his Nobleshield Dragon children away to somewhere they wouldn't be taken advantage of or controlled, like he has been by his father and mate. His uncle agreed and took them to an island where thousands of breeds lived together and where his nephew had settled. Salmon was raised by surrogate parents, without a father figure or anyone to associate that trait to. So, he has no real sense of familial connection and has a difficult time interacting with others. He desperately searches for a dragon to imprint on, feeling as though that will make him feel whole, but his endeavors to find someone have not been successful thus far. He is generally friendly and sweet, though doesn't know his own strength.
