Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Riler was born an ember dragon to loving parents from the Aquarius Clan, who allowed him to be turned into a vampire in order to symbolize a good and trusting relationship with the Libra Clan. Naturally a peaceful clan which stayed out of the other's scheming, many were annoyed at the Aquarius' decision to welcome the Libras as a proper clan, due to the Libra Clan's nefarious nature, but Riler's turning marked an increase in co-operation between the Libra Clan and the outside world. Riler is well aware of this and the responsibility that he has not only to show himself as a credible vampire to the other clans, but also gain his clan mates trust and respect weighs heavily upon him. He spends most of his time consciously figuring out what to do next, leaving long pauses before he replies, and is a master of the tricky diplomacy he needs to survive on a daily basis. Riler has greatly helped the Libra Clan to develop links with the other clans, and is a candidate to be the future leader.
