Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Neither a speck of blood on her fangs nor even a shimmer of dust on her scaly flank, cleanliness and order are the only purpose of Blaen's life. Her cavern of a home is lined with shining mother-of-pearl, and woes betide any lost hatchling that might dirty its gleaming walls. It seems to be no coincidence that Blaen rhymes with vain, as all she seems to do is beautify herself all day, every day. When asked if she does anything else in there, her reply is that all she needs in the world is in there, leaving her with no reason to ever venture into the outside world. Despite her seclusion, she is against the Libra Clan joining the main group as she believes that work would tarnish her beauty, and then she would have nothing. Some wonder if she is insecure, while others believe she is just vain, but her clan mates worry when they see her lost in her reflection for days and days on end.
