Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Vega Nuria, daughter of Ashwin Nuria and Aster Nuria, was born on the tallest mountain of Elgar. To her parent's surprise, Vega had no interest in the stars at all. Ashwin and Aster had been obsessed with stars, to the point where Ashwin became nocturnal, and Aster, who met him one night and fell in love, did too. However, Vega could hardly stand to watch the stars for a while, and would rather sleep and play with the other dragons raised by Ember in the daytime. Because Vega's parents were almost always asleep in the day, Ember ended up raising Vega as she had with Vega's parents. Vega soon made friends with two Nebula dragons raised by Flight, a human friend of Ember's, named Nembi and Flauga of the North.  Flauga turned out to be Ashwin's mother, and Nembi, her daughter, so Vega would have a fun time with her grandmother and aunt. Vega Nuria still lives on the tallest mountain of Elgar, and will occasionally watch the stars with her parents as long as they don't go for over an hour.
