Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ember Nuria received the egg of Ashwin Nuria as a gift from Flight, her dragon-raising companion. She took it to her home in the tallest mountain of Elgar to raise it with her other dragons. Ashwin was the son of Flauga of the North and Jironx, who were happy to let Ember raise him. Ashwin hatched at exactly midnight, and the first thing he saw were the stars shining gloriously through the open window. Ashwin became absolutely infatuated with the stars. He loved to gaze at them all night, and dream about them in the morning. As soon as he was old enough, Ashwin moved to a cave farther up the mountain.  One night as Ashwin was watching the splendid display of stars, another Nebula dragon named Aster flew to his cave. She had also been raised by Ember, and had come to see the only other Nuria dragon on the mountain. As the two stared at the stars, they quickly fell in love. Ashwin and Aster had two children, Vega and Xing, who continue to live with them in tallest mountain of Elgar.
