Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ember Nuria, a human girl living on the tallest mountain of Elgar, found the egg of Aster Nuria at midnight under a sparking sky full of stars. The brilliant radiance coming off of the egg reflected the stars in the sky, and when the Nebula dragon hatched, Ember named her Aster, which means star. Aster lived with Ember in her home until she couldn't fit through the door. Ember loved her constant company, and the two were good friends. When Aster grew to a reasonable age, Ember mentioned another Nebula dragon she had raised by the name of Ashwin. Aster went to his home in a cave above Ember's house one night, and the two gazed at the glorious stars for a while. Aster grew to love Ashwin, and the two soon had children, Vega and Xing Nuria, who were both named after the stars that had caused their parents to fall so deeply in love. Aster and Ashwin Nuria still live in the highest mountain of Elgar, and they often fly down to visit Ember or Ashwin's parents who live by the lake of Elgar.
