It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Her name means "Love" in Japanese. She is the firstborn child of Akihiko and Akemi, who love their special little girl with everything they have. She is a very beautiful dragon, and like most of the other female Purple dragons, she's an excellent singer. Her delicate claws are also perfect for playing the harp. She is one of the most talented musicians in the whole valley. The hatchlings of the colony love to hear her sing and play, always happy tunes to raise the spirits of all who hear it. Remy, the valley's caretaker, is also particularly fond of Ai's music, and loves to sit and listen along with all the dragons. Ai is mated to Daisuke, and together they make one of the cutest couples in the colony. They love each other so much, and look forward to spending eternity together.
