Pink Dragons are primarily herbivores and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan’s young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Her name means "Dragon" "True Hope" in Japanese. She is the daughter of Ai and Daisuke, the best friend of Emiko, and Kunio's mate. Her mother had been hoping for a "girly girl" but didn't expect for her pretty pink daughter to be such a tomboy. Maki is loved by both her parents, who quickly got used to the idea of their daughter exploring the valley and getting into all kinds of adventures. Her and Emiko are friends despite the fact that Emiko IS a girly girl, and thinks that Maki puts herself in danger too often. And Kunio is the love of her life, they met while on an adventure, and their life together has been just that. A glorious and wonderful adventure that they intend to continue on for as long as they live.
