Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Rigil is not much of a friendly dragon, though he is incredibly intelligent. He's quite detached and doesn't seem to care much about those around him. What he does care about is learning. Rigil all but buries himself in books and scrolls, namely about astronomy. He takes interest in other subjects, though, like biology, anthropology, and sociology. Many see him as an arrogant intellectual only focused on making himself seem better than others through his constant studying. And, while this may, at least, be partially true, Rigil does legitimately enjoy learning new things. While he rejects most everyone, he is willing to commune with those that share his love of knowledge or may be able to provide some themselves. As stated, Rigil loves learning new things, and even trivial facts peak his interest. He'll willingly listen to even drakes if they can teach him something books cannot. And, once he has bonded with someone in this way, the relationship may remain surprisingly stable.
