Ridgewing Dragons live just below the snow level on the upper slopes of mountains. They are a friendly, playful breed and enjoy dancing in wind currents near their homes or plummeting down into valleys from great heights. Their wings, by far their most striking feature, grow in fin-like ridges along their backs. While their bodies lack markings to blend better with their surroundings, a ridgewing’s wings have bright markings in the colors of the flowers that grow in their mountain habitat. Occasionally different-colored individuals can be found, but they are rare because their striking coloring offers little protection.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Arva is a rather vain dragon. He flaunts his bright markings with immense pride, flashing his wings out to any and all bystanders. He is equally proud of the beauty of his mate, Constellation, a bright blue Nebula. Together, they strut about like superstars, showing off their gorgeous scales. Constellation is the brains in the family. Her quick wit and strategic thinking has saved Arva's tail on more than one occasion. This is because Arva is kind of a claw full. His arrogance tends to get him in more trouble than he's worth. He has no trouble going up to dragons far bigger and stronger than himself in order to gain attention, only to annoy them and get attacked. Though not a great fighter, Arva is fast. He has incredibly acrobatic abilities and can easily sense wind patterns around him. This allows him to soar fast and far at the flick of his tail, retreating from any danger he finds himself in. Constellation's coaching and bailing tends to help a lot, too, though.
