Silver Dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Male Silvers hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Silversecret is the first son of his parents, Softpatch and Songsilver, but he feels there has always been a distance between himself and the rest of his family. Perhaps that's not fair: between him and his father, there seems to be a distance, which makes other distances seem steeper.

Silversecret has a tendency to overthink, anyway. He's very close with his younger brother, Softsweet, after all. There was very little gap in their hatchings, so they became close friends as they grew. He doesn't see the distance.

Maybe it's because he's the only Silver child in the family -- all Silversecret's other siblings are Tercorns, like their father. Maybe it makes it difficult for his father to relate to him; he never seems very interested in what Silversecret has to say, never seeks him out for conversation.

It's not cruelty. But it's distance.

Silversecret has tried to ask his mother about it, but she only shakes her head and tells him he is loved.

He supposes that should be enough.
