Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Aya is the firstborn daughter of Jiro and Kazumi. Her name means "Kimono Design" in Japanese, since the pattern of her hide is so beautiful. Shortly after she hatched, her parents decided to break up. Aya was very sad and wished that her parents would get back together. After Aya had matured, her parents did eventually get back together. Aya is so happy that her family is back together, and now has many brothers and sisters. She is a timid nervous little dragon, and doesn't like confrontation. If any of the other dragons start yelling, Aya suddenly disappears. She can usually be found huddled under a bush, waiting for the fighting to stop. She is mated to Makoto, a rather large Striped dragon, that takes care of her. She loves him so much, he's always there to comfort her when she's scared. They met through their parents, who are good friends. Makoto was instantly enamored with the sweet shy little dragon. They began courting, and soon became mates. They are deeply in love.
