Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

His name means "Toothless" in Japanese. He is one of the many sons of Kentaro and Kiyomi, and was raised alongside his brother Bata-Shiri. When Kentaro found the eggs, he was very excited to be adding to his family. But soon they discovered something awful. One of the eggs had a terrible crack in it. They patched it with tree sap, and hoped for the best. Hanuke hatched from that egg. He seemed perfectly healthy when he hatched, but soon they discovered what was wrong. While Bata-Shiri was very noisy, Hanuke didn't make a sound. Soon their fears were confirmed when he opened his mouth, and no noise came out. He was mute, and couldn't communicate by telepathy. No one ever let that slow them down though, especially not Hanuke. He grew to be a wonderful dragon, expressing himself through movement and facial expressions. Soon he met Kuroi-Yimei, they fell in love, and became mates. He loves her so much, even though he will never be able to say it, he shows her every day, and she shows him.
