Iratus Cantormaris Dragons are a chaotic, malevolent breed of coastal-dwellers. Their annual migrations at the start of spring are among the first indications that winter has ended. They use their haunting calls to lure people with a deep resentment to them in an attempt to slake their hunger for carnage. It is considered a sign of ill luck to hear their calls.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Look on the Bright Side of Beef seems nice and caring of others for an iratus cantormaris, but she doesn't have connections with others unless she benefits greatly from the relationship, and in her opinion, the nicer people are, the easier they are to manipulate. Someone who wishes to see genuine goodness in her and shows weakness to her is only in danger of being her next victim. Any seeming affection Beef has for anybody is really about her own happiness and goals, not others' wellbeing, unless that wellbeing affects her own. She'll kill and eat them if she's annoyed by their attempts to change her or finds they're not as useful as she thought. The one time she courted a mate, everything she did for him was really about her: how she would suffer if the relationship went sour, how it would hurt her if anything bad happened to him. Beef hid that side of her well, since her mate, comparing all his partners he's had for the last 70 years, considered her the most loyal and principled.
