Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Amethystosia FirstClutch (after the gemstone: Amethyst) is the eldest of all the dragons in the clan cave. She is the first dragon ever cared for and hatched by The Clan Mother. She was carefully chosen from the many eggs littering the sandy floor. It is rumored throughout the clan that since purple is The Clan Mother's favorite color, Amethystosia's egg was selected first and shall forever remain her favorite dragon. (The Clan Mother emphatically denies this!) She is calm, gentle and patient, as the dragon flies, and she lends her kindness and protection to all the younglings who hatch and grow within the clan cave. Her speed and grace have saved more than a few hatchlings from running off to certain doom!
