Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ryuuichi is a bundle of energy, she loves fooling around and playing with other dragons, but once she gets hungry her vines will go after anything edible. Which most of the time doesn't result in anything, since she can't pay attention long enough in order to learn how to hunt properly. Being the child that she is, she doesn't like going underground, like her dad, since she's afraid of the dark, so she decided to never grow up and froze in time as a hatchling. That way she can stay above ground with her mother, but still she hides often between her father's vines at night when she's scared, which then hold her gently.
