Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

WaveBloom is the Spring son of FrostFlyer the Winter and PearlWave the Water. Before he hatched, his egg rolled out of his nest and landed at the entrance of the family caverns. Being, like most dragon eggs, quite tough, it did not even crack. But some humans from a nearby village spotted the attractive pink and green egg and stole it away. They intended to force the hatchling out and, if it lived, use it as a slave. They had reckoned without the appearance of the egg's furious father, FrostFlyer. Just as they had caused some cracks on the shell, he raged into the scene like a vengeful snowstorm. Within moments, the egg was back home and the dragons living the cooler regions were gifted with a lifelike set of human ice statues. WaveBloom hatched into a quiet dragon who enjoys the outdoors and raising flowers, but is extremely nervous around all humans excepting his owner.
