Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

FrostFlyer is the son of Duskglider the Black dragon and Glacioulnesse the Winter dragon. While he takes after his mother in appearance, his nature is far more like his father's. He is a ferocious and deadly warrior, but unlike his father, does not show any emotion in battle. But many who have sparred with him say that this cold fury is much more frightening. The only dragon who can match him in combat aside from his father is Rose Satin the Red dragon, who is also being trained by Duskglider. Strangely enough, Rose Satin does not seem to bear any animosity towards FrostFlyer. This belies her bullying attitude towards the other dragons and hatchlings. FrostFlyer does not really mingle with his family, but he has chosen a mate, to everyone's surprise and seems to be as fond of her as he can be, as well as of their daughter, with whom he spends a lot of time.
