Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Ever since she was a hatchling Zara hated her family. Her grandparents were goody-goodies, her brother was an idiot and her father was weak. As soon as she could fly Zara disowned them all and moved to an isolated cave in the alpine region. From there she takes care of the less savory jobs her cult needs done. It's messy, highly illegal work but someone's got to do it. Zara absolutely loathes other living beings and will either kill or hideously maim any non-Death Eaters that dare come near her. The one exception to this rule is her mate, Acton, who she treats more like a butler than an equal. The biggest disappointment in Zara's life is her firstborn egg, a Gryffindor that she shipped off to live with her brother before it even hatched.
