Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts autumn weather.
And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
This playful little hatchling loves to jump over things—old logs, big boulders, small huts, other hatchlings. Otumnal found that when playing chase with other creatures, he could gain on them by hopping over things that they ran around. His hunting style reflects his love of leaping; he particularly likes to sneak up and pounce onto unsuspecting prey.
To Otumnal, wings just mean greater height when leaping. He will always have leaves fluttering around his wings from the amount he leaps about in the forest. He has too much fun surprising things with his pouncing to spend time in the sky.
