Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Desire (or Desi) is a bit more flirtatious than the average Dorsal. Next to her Black sister, Rarity, Desi is easily the most beautiful dragon in her brood, though she is also the youngest. She hatched with vibrant, red fins that put her other red siblings' to shame. Desi puts forth a great amount of effort to keep her fins bright and vivid, often going to great lengths to find berries to eat and make them brighter. As one might discern, Desi is incredibly self-centered and almost narcissistic. She cares only for herself and her appearance, which she measures based on how many heads she can turn when strutting by. She has very little regard for her family, though, frankly, with how she behaves, they don't generally see her as a high aristocrat either. She doesn't even really live among them anymore, rather just stays in the den of whatever male she can get to simp for her. Despite her promiscuous behavior, Desi has never actually taken a mate, only teased those she leads on.
