Crystalline Dragons are a northern breed with icy skin and a ferocious temperament. Their scales are highly reflective and translucent, giving their hides a characteristic “ice crystal” appearance. Large and solitary, they roam mountainsides, tundras, and frozen wastes searching for food and occasionally mates. They have expansive territories and don’t generally roam far outside. If two similarly sized Crystalline Dragons do encounter each other, a vicious and explosive fight is soon to ensue.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When Kenshiki was a hatchling, he once walked through a pool of liquid ice mana and then attempted to drink from a nearby stream. He was surprised and fascinated to see that the mana caused the surface of the water to freeze over, where his paws gripped the shoreline. Kenshiki remembered that memory vividly, and now makes his home near a large underwater lake of ice mana. Every day, before he goes hunting, Kenshiki trails the claws of his front feet through the ice mana. He claims that there's nothing quite like the rush of adrenaline he feels when he smashes the ground and enormous spikes of ice spring up where his mana-coated talons raked the earth.
