Crystalline Dragons are a northern breed with icy skin and a ferocious temperament. Their scales are highly reflective and translucent, giving their hides a characteristic “ice crystal” appearance. Large and solitary, they roam mountainsides, tundras, and frozen wastes searching for food and occasionally mates. They have expansive territories and don’t generally roam far outside. If two similarly sized Crystalline Dragons do encounter each other, a vicious and explosive fight is soon to ensue.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Asaito hates sharing space with anyone, especially intruders on her territory who have wandered in due to their own carelessness. Since she can't be everywhere at once when it comes to defending her portion of the mountains, she's taken to altering the landmarks to be as terrifying as possible to hopefully deter any random wanderers. Over the years she's carved scary faces into trees, stuck bones into rock clefts, and built precarious stacks of large rocks up in the cliffs. Unfortunately, Asaito has never had much of an eye for artistry, so most of these displays are more childishly unsettling than frightening. Nevertheless, she has seen a decrease in the number of visitors since she started these unusual security measures.
