And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ikran Theersha was born in a cold, winter morning, while the most violent blizzard blew outside the cozy cave where his parents had built the nest. Right after being born, and despite being a mutt, the similarities with his father inmediately became very obvious. But he was a mutt, and his mother, Theersha, knew of the destiny that awaited those like him, she knew of her daughter's suffering.

Because of that, Theersha had decided to find a magi dragon to cast a spell upon her young baby to keep him from aging. Ikran Theersha would forever live as a hatchling, protected by his parents' wings, oblivious of the problems that worried adults.
