Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The human had lived for a long time, far longer than most of his family and neighbours. His creaking bones and sore back constantly ailed him, but he was determined to stay as active as possible. He was feeding the chickens when the shadow fell upon him. He froze in terror at first, wondering if she would devour him there and then, but she made no further movement.

Risking a look upwards he saw the mighty black dragon sprawled across the roof of his house, watching him with interest. So she was prepared to wait then. He walked into his house and wrote several letters, setting his affairs in order. He then spent the rest of the day visiting his family and playing with his grandchildren, making sure each one knew how much he loved them.

The dragon was still waiting for him when he returned home. A crowd had gathered, but many had seen this before. He had lived a good life, but now it was time to end. He was not afraid, but curious as to what adventures would be waiting after death.
