Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tragedy struck early for the young white egg as the death of his father left him thrust into an unknown world. Fate had not yet finished its torture of the newly born egg however, as the Libra Clan had noticed the egg, and it was late that night when Valkyrie snuck in and bit the lone egg. Living off the cave's pity, Crusader felt isolated as an egg, ostracised by the glances and whispers that followed him throughout his hatchhood. Late one night his wings finally grew in, and he left the nursery to tell the adults, only to hear them discussing him. They were saying that once he grew up, he would have to leave the clans, as a vampire would be too dangerous to have around the eggs or hatchlings. Listening in horror, Crusader discovered they planned to freeze him, and that very night he left the main complex, running deep into the tunnels until he found where he belonged—the Libra Clan. Although he despises their lifestyle, he must bear it for he has nowhere else to go.
