Golden Wyverns are known for their beautiful metallic scales and rumored magical abilities. Living high in the mountains, these dragons do not believe in killing for sport or pleasure. They will hunt only when hungry and defend themselves when provoked, but will avoid killing to the best of their abilities. Golden Wyverns often mingle with other dragons of similar color and take pride in their shimmering hide.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Saxo is from two different worlds that both beat upon him like a drum to be played. His mother, Flyute, had him as any normal dragon would- with no set mate up until the time he was a teenager. But the majority of the dragons who live in the area belong to Hamay's dragon clan, and so Saxo is never sure if he should pursue the life of a loner, with no responsibilities and become an outcast or join the dragon clan and enjoy the company of friends and hopefully, family. All Saxo knows of his father was that he was a clan dragon, which meant he was socially expected to only have eggs with a set mate; not Saxo's mother who was a loner. He looks upon his clan dragon friends and their families and wonders who his own father is, how much he's like him, but knows he will never know. Truthfully, Saxo's father is Donko, a black dragon cursed to be a monster at night and a kind dragon by day whose only friend is his mate, and if either knew about their relation, neither would be happy.
