Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is so full of energy that you have a hard time keeping up with it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Nina is a bare few pounds of spastic, undying cheer. She is a complete Daddy's girl, and will follow Thwipzus for hours on end, pouncing on his tail and weaving between his feet until she topples over, cross-eyed from dizziness. Though she lacks her mother's competitive nature, she can no more tell north from south than Meela, and has been known to get lost merely playing in the forest outside her family's cave. On one such occasion a confused Nina was running back and forth between two stands of trees with all her clumsy hatchling speed when she met K'Miri. The ice hatchling tripped Nina, getting her to sit still long enough to explain that she was lost to K'Miri. K'Miri led her home, and the two have been best friends ever since.
