Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Meela, lithe and lean, is a proud athlete always looking to improve her skill in good-natured competitions. While her athletics are prime, however, her sense of direction leaves a lot to be desired. A common saying among the other dragons of her drove is that she wouldn't know up from down if she didn't fall when she stopped flapping. The winds of fate may have blown this in her favor, though. It was when she was weaving through a stand of trees, trying not to admit that she was baffled and lost, that ran into Tropis and Thwipzus. Literally. The three were soon engaged in a race that ended with Thwipzus winning by a scale's breadth. Meela, determined to beat Thwipzus, decided to stay for a few days, and found herself permanently smitten with Thwipzus.
