Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Derpy Foreclaw, or Derpy for short, is a young Striped dragon. The first thing Izar noticed about her after she hatched was her crossed yellow eyes. He shrugged it off, but her eyes stayed that way through her adulthood. Although she has a big responsibility being the local town's mail carrier, she is very childlike, innocent, clumsy, loveable, and ditzy. Whenever she delivers mail to her owner's house, she is invited inside for her favorite food, fresh-baked muffins. She loves muffins. She also loves when her owner brings bubble soap to her cave when she visits, as she loves popping the bubbles. She is very kind, but is extremely clumsy, and once nearly destroyed the Town Hall in the nearby town when she was "helping" Izar decorate it for an upcoming event. She has no fear of humans, and enjoys flying around with the children who live in the town.
