Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Toronado Impala, or Toro for short, is a young Black Striped dragon. He loves nothing more than reading science fiction novels, coming up with inventions with Spotty and Doc Volt, and making up radical new theories about how the universe was created. He is a self-declared "indoor dragon", and he hates going outside his cave, as he sunburns very easily. He helps Spotty and Doc Volt test out new inventions, as well, even if this means traveling back in time with them. He once was helping with wiring their new Flux Capacitor, and suddenly he traveled 100 years to the future, and Spotty and Volt had to go get him. Once they found him, however, he had bought a World Sports Almanac. Once he went back to his own time, he became rich from bets he made on sports games, since he already knew who would win. Colbie Impala is his mate.
