Sapphire Dragons were so named for their brilliant blue-green color, which is reminiscent of the gemstone. This breed was historically hunted for their scales; even long after, they remain distrustful of humans. Normally a Sapphire is not very aggressive, but they will defend themselves vigorously if under attack. Their diet consists mainly of fruit, with smaller portions of large insects and other invertebrates. Males woo females with vocalizations similar to bird songs. Sapphire Dragons are very loyal to their mates, and it is not unusual that they pair for life.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shiny Blue Reptile is one of the few dragon denizens of Willville. The vast majority of townsfolk spend their whole lives here, and the only person who documented dragon breeds eventually left and took all her papers with her. Shiny Blue Reptile is officially designated "Some Kind of Dragon" among the people bios, with a scribbled out name. He's sociable and does his work at the meal assembly line without complaint. His colleagues can't help but feel a bit more cheerful whenever he's present, and many of them attend the book club together and are in the same choir group. He's happy with his job and hobbies and the small goals he has set for himself. Shiny Blue Reptile doesn't know how long he'll live compared to the humans. The dragons he's asked give conflicting answers and seem pretty snooty, so he doesn't give them much credence. He intends to remain in Willville for as long as he lives, and if the dragons are to be believed, he'll likely outlive Willville. That would make him sad.
