Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts winter weather.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ysolte is a young and eager hatchling, with a head full of plans. Most of them are inventions, clever little tools. Some of her tools, oddly enough, are used to gather up metals and jewels (especially jewels) that she uses to make even more devices. She's very interested in studying the properties of jewels, and can become very animated when she's talking about that interest. The rest of the time, however, she's a withdrawn little hatchling, very quiet and seemingly emotionless. She much prefers science to company, for the most part.

The obvious exceptions to that are her parents, Geflimmer and Devmani. They share her love of the hidden and the beautiful, even if their focus is slightly more artistic than scientific, and her mother's interest lies more in ice than jewels. Still, the family enjoys their searches in deep and cold caves. Ysolte is always denying that she is like her mother, but doesn't seem to be aware that in her often-silent reserve, she could be her mother's clone.
