Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nacilina is the daughter of Nacilian and Celeton. She is married to the guardian dragon Fakaln, and they enjoy a happy life together. Nacilina loves nature and natural things, and will spend long hours meditating in forests, immersed in the wild. She is fascinated with insects, especially bees and ants, and has gone to great lengths to discover their secrets. This is portrayed to be comical by some dragons, others take a liking to the answers Nacilina digs up.

Nacilina, being a guardian, works long hours to protect the cave from intruders. She uses these times as an opportunity to study and observe the natural world. She has amassed a fair store of interesting facts about a multitude of minor subjects; the flight of birds, how bees live and sustain their hives, how schools of fish form and move. She is not social, but not antisocial either, and will readily speak with other dragons.

Nacilina is a well-respected dragon, more than equal to the burden of her station.
