Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Bacaro's true parents were Guardian Tail and Jesimira, but because he was bitten by Zertang, Bacaro knows nothing of the life that he may have lived, had he not been Turned. Everyday, since he was an adolescent, Bacaro has longed for a life that he can never have. From a young age he spent his nights watching the goings-on of his former Clan. For the longest time he never revealed himself, only watching from afar. One night Bacaro watched from the cover of the forest as Valley Clan's hatchlings played. The young vampire wanted to join in on their games, and thought nothing of it when he approached them. He will never forget that night. Bacaro now sees himself as nothing but a monster. He is a timid, nervous dragon, and rarely ever leaves the safety of the Vampire Caves.
