Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Being a Shield Dragon, Guardian Tail has a very protective nature. He is loyal, and will do almost anything for his family and friends. He has a serious nature and isn't very good at telling jokes, but he is not immune to guffawing over someone else's. On occasion, Guardian Tail has joined Vaileen on one of her solitary flights, and watched Belit-ili work with undisguised admiration. As a hatchling he once tried swimming with Divine Wave, but the outcome was not pleasant. He now carefully avoids the water. Guardian Tail was the first official Clan-Leader of Valley Clan. After Sonnoh beat him in the battle for the title, this Shield Dragon took a reserved seat as the Clan's guard. Though the Valley Army now serves to protect the Clan, Guardian Tail still patrols the borders during the day. He holds a long reputation for being the Clan's Casanova. Since the long-standing tradition of battling for a Mate was disbanded, Guardian Tail has been on a wild rampage.
