Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Alamtte  never met her birth parents. As a baby, she was forever moving from clan to clan, family to family.

She never had much of a chance to bond with anyone; not before she was shipped off to the next family.

When she finally grew up, she became a permanent member of the clan Elders. Despite a rather timid, tentative nature, she bonded with a few of the other young dragons. But Alamtte is untrusting of them. Deep down she fears if she lets them see the real her, then they will leave.

After being thrown in a life-death situation with the vampire Bane, however, this changed. She's bonded to Bane and opens up to him about everything.

However, Bane is not being honest with her. He recognized her the moment he saw her, and knows the reasons for her isolation as a youth. Her mother was petrified that Creorluna would steal away her precious daughter. The same way they'd stolen away both of her sons.

He knows this because he is one of the lost sons.
