Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Amarinthe the Stone dragon was found when her owner tripped over her egg while chasing an errant hatchling through the caves. The egg was undamaged, the owner was not. Deciding she might as well keep the unusual rock, the owner took it home and was informed by her other dragons that it was an egg. The egg hatched into a rather unnerving hatchling who barely moved around and seemed to have no need for food or drink. Some of the family began to have serious doubts about whether she was alive. All that changed after the hatchling started vocalising. Amarinthe still doesn't move around much, though she occasionally wanders outside or visits the rest of her family's caves. It is usually her family who comes to see her. Or to be more specific, to hear her. Amarinthe is a beautiful singer and seems to enjoy music as much as Duskglider the Black dragon and his son FrostFlight enjoy battle, PearlWave the Water dragon enjoys collecting and Camreth the Earth dragon enjoys gardening.
