Blazeback Dragons live in active volcanic regions, rarely straying from such homes. Their skin is thick and extremely heat resistant, allowing them to swim in hot pools of lava. This lava ignites the oils secreted along the Blazeback’s spine, and in combination with their ability to cast fire magic, can keep the flames going indefinitely provided the dragon consumes enough mana to maintain its strength. An impressive intimidation tool, the flames also provide enough heat to keep Blazebacks warm on volcanic summits.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

French Toaster Sicks was not a very healthy hatchling. She was skinny and predisposed to illness, not helped by numerous peers and some adults, even, who would prod her and hold her upside-down while commenting how strangely small and bony she was. For reasons nobody understands, least of all French Toaster Sicks, days before she was to undergo the Crater-Circuit right of passage, her afflictions just seemed to vanish, and several dragons noted that she seemed to have quickly put on muscle mass, had more lively flames, and looked happier and more confident. She now resides in Blacksole on the corner of Ashbury and Main, and no dragon who didn't already know her before thinks there's anything unusual about her shape and stature.
