Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Usri would love to travel, but her fear of humans keeps her trapped with the family territory. Unlike her mother and older sister, she has no confidence in her battle skills and much prefers to flee rather than fight. In fact the only human she has seen up close is the young girl that founded the family and earned their trust.

Knowing that many covert her golden scales, Usri can not help preening herself. She detests dirt and shudders whenever she is required to perform a task that involves getting filthy, such as cleaning up after the hatchlings.  

Though she had rejected many males, Usri finally accepted Moongaze as her mate. Something about his calm and gentle demeanour always leaves her feeling soothed and almost unnaturally happy.
