Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Gold writes in verse whenever he picks up a writing tool, even if doing so makes him look like a fool. Other dragons say it isn't always appropriate to write like this, but he doesn't see anything amiss. He doesn't care about syllables in a line, and it is okay to use the occasional near-rhyme. Without exception, there must be at least a rhyming pair of terms, and when it comes to following this silly rule, Gold is quite stern. His rhymes are often forced and painful, and most readers' opinion of his work is disdainful. With difficult items where rhyming would be absurd, he'll read obscure documents in different tongues for the right word. He's stubborn; if he can't think of a rhyme for the word "month", he'll make a thousand failed attempts and succeed on the thousand and oneth.
