Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts summer weather.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This Hatchling's name comes from the Latvian word for "summer". She's a cheerful, inquisitive Hatchling, and one of the last Summer Hatchlings of the year. Interestingly, and perhaps as a result of many of her playmates being Autumn Dragons, she sometimes forgets she herself reflects the summer! She has been found on numerous occasions staring in puzzlement at her green reflection. She wants to have her own children some day, and plans on having them in the Fall!
