Cavern Lurker Dragons are nocturnal ambush predators. Although small, they are very aggressive and will attack anything weak enough to be overpowered. Their preferred method of hunting is to lie in wait in a cave, burrow, or other small, enclosed space; when any potential prey passes they will lunge out to grab hold of the unsuspecting victim and drag it back into the lair. Cavern Lurkers have an odd aversion to sunlight and almost never venture out during the day. More commonly sighted are the odd piles of bones they stack near the entrance to their dens. Their mating call is a low-pitched bumping noise.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Reaper serves under the strict command of Hex, the leader of the Cavern Lurkers of SL's scroll. By far, he is the most silent and untrusting of the four, as a past experience Immortal recently had made him vow to hold his tongue. He can't risk letting anyone know who the father of Chilly Rum, the young hot-headed Ice dragon, is.

Reaper was first drawn out into the world by a fine young Ice dragon named The Bone Chiller, or Chiller. He was fascinated by her energetic and flamboyant personality, as his own friends were constricted and reserved. She showed him the world and everything he was missing out on. She tried to coax him to stay with her and be her mate, but he left her question unanswered, as he had yet to consult his fellow Lurkers. He knew they would disapprove of what he was doing, anyway. Eventually came the day that caused Reaper his sorrow and withdrawal. Chiller had an egg. Reaper disappeared within the cave, and refuses to speak to anyone, not even Chiller or Chilly Rum.
