And look! It’s grown bigger. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Untalented is not particularly talented in anything, and she seems fine with that, even proud. She's all right at foraging, all right at magic, all right at teamwork, middling in many things. Her group mates, none of whom are very close and only stick together because of the benefits that brings, don't care that Untalented doesn't have any great goals in life as long as she doesn't annoy or menace them.
