Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Onyxtrius ShadowWing (after the gemstone: Onyx) became the 108th Clan Mystal dragon as a gift from the Lady Rime to ensure a solid and stable warrior presence within the clan. Although the clan elders felt it unnecessary, considering the existence of The Red Claw, The Clan Mother believed it to be a wise addition to the clan cave. There are those who feverishly opposed her decision at first, who held an unfair opinion of the species and the potential damage its introduction could cause. Over time, however, all the clan dragons have come to respect and honor Onyxtrius for he is a devoted dragon with a powerful physique and a sharp mind and wit. His magical talents are also highly valued, as he often lends his significant talents to the Magi and their various endeavors. He has managed to find his place beside The Red Claw in defense of the clan cave, although they will never directly admit it. In some ways, his is a quiet existence, almost as if he protects under cover of shadow.
