Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Vampirica is a female Vampire dragon, and the firstbitten of Sagbeth. She favors deer as her prey, and is quite an adept huntress. She grew up in cave in the far reaches of her clan's territory and was raised by Sagbeth, a male Vampire dragon. Vampirica wishes to bite an egg of her own, but the Vampires' relationship with the clan is already tedious, as Sagbeth bit an egg from the clan's egg cave. Vampirica holds a grudge against her clan because she was forced to grow up far away without contact with other dragons, and because they will not allow her to bite. Vampirica holds no grudge against Sagbeth, however, for her misfortunes. She is immensely grateful that he even left the clan so that she could grow up in peace. She understands his compulsion to bite, and is happy that she is a Vampire dragon and not an Albino dragon. Vampirica enjoys the presence of young Tanner, who came to the Vampire den after growing up in the clan cave. He is like her little brother.
